Selection Process
Application result will be reflected in the application status in the online application system.
Aims
  1. To become reflective practitioners who are able to assess changing social needs and adapt their own performance accordingly.
  2. To become self-directed learners, recognising personal educational needs, selecting appropriate learning resources and evaluating progress.
  3. To develop specialised knowledge and skills at an advanced level to match up with the emerging social needs and problems in all their complexity and extensiveness.
  4. To be able to assess critically professional activities and advocate for appropriate reforms in the system.
  5. To acquire the competence as a researcher-practitioner, so as to enrich one's knowledge base for the development of new policies and interventions for emerging issues.
  6. To be able to recognise, maintain and develop professional identity to ensure the contribution of the profession in the changing times.
  7. To be "research literate" - to criticise, use and promote relevant research; and to be able to think theoretically - to criticise, use and promote the development of social work theory.

Academic Qualification

 

Applicants should possess:

 

  1. a bachelor’s degree in Social Work* from a recognised university or equivalent#

           (* Usually a good second class degree is required, but applicants with outstanding work experience may be considered; #social sciences and human service related degree)

 


Language Proficiency Requirement

 

Proof of English proficiency is required for all applicants whose Bachelor’s degree is obtained from non-English medium institutions. These applicants must meet the following minimum requirements for English proficiency:

 

  1. an overall band score of 6.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS)*; or
  2. a score of 74 (internet-based test) in TOEFL*; or
  3. a score of 450 in College English Test band 6 (CET-6)* of China; or
  4. an equivalent score on a comparable test.

*Note: Test result provided should be within two years from the date of issuance of the Admission Offer letter. TOEFL iBT Home Edition or IELTS Indicator test is not accepted.

Preferably with 2 years of work experience in the field of social work or equivalent.
