Academic Problems

Students whose academic performance is NOT up to the standard as prescribed by the University will receive academic warning, be placed on academic probation, or be dismissed.  Please see below for details.

 

For students taking 12 units or more counting towards GPA in a semester
Academic WarningApplicable to students with semester GPA between 1.67 and 1.99 for the same semester.
Academic ProbationApplicable to students with semester GPA below 1.67 for the same semester.
Academic DismissalAs required by the Senate when a student’s semester GPA is below 1.67 for two consecutive semesters; or on other academic grounds.

 

For students taking less than 12 units counting towards GPA in a semester
Academic WarningApplicable to students with semester GPA below 2.00 for the same semester.
Academic ProbationApplicable to students with semester GPA below 1.67 for two consecutive semesters.
Academic DismissalAs required by the Senate when a student’s semester GPA is below 1.67 for three consecutive semesters; or on other academic grounds.

 

Students with academic problems may be required by the major department/programme: 

  1. to repeat study;  or
  2. to be dismissed.
