Aims
The MSc in AI for Business aims to cultivate visionary leaders who bridge artificial intelligence and business innovation, empowering organizations to harness AI’s transformative potential ethically and sustainably. The program equips graduates to translate cutting-edge AI technologies into actionable business solutions, drive cross-sector digital transformation, and address global challenges such as regulatory compliance, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) alignment, and workforce evolution in the AI era.

Academic Qualification

 

Applicants should possess:

 

  1. A bachelor’s degree in any discipline (business, engineering, social sciences, etc.).
  2. Non-STEM applicants must demonstrate quantitative proficiency via coursework, and have intermediate-level knowledge in IT/IS or business, demonstrated by completing relevant undergraduate courses or having related work experience.

 

Professional Experience

 

Preferred but not mandatory; early-career professionals and career-changers are encouraged to apply.

 

Letters of Recommendation

 

Provide TWO (2) academic or professional references contact information in the admission system. We will request recommendation letter from them directly. Make sure those references are responsible. 


Language Proficiency

 

Applicants whose qualifications are from institutions where the medium of instruction is not English must meet the following minimum English proficiency requirements:

 

  • A score of 79 (Internet-based test) in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); or
  • An overall band score of 6.5 (Academic) in International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or
  • Other equivalent qualifications.

Applicants are required to provide their English test results obtained within the two years preceding the commencement of the University's application period.

 

Applicants are required to arrange with the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to send their TOEFL results directly to the University. The TOEFL institution code for HKBU is 9467.

 

Interview

Shortlisted candidates participate in a panel interview assessing problem-solving skills and ethical reasoning.

 

An array of Master of Science in AI for Business scholarships and awards scheme is set up to encourage individuals to pursue advanced professional education and motivate students to strive for academic excellence in their master's programme studies:

 

  1. International Postgraduate Scholarship which is competitive with limited quota, is offered to outstanding international students. Scholarship recipients will get full tuition waiver plus HK$100,000 living allowance (Approx. US$12,820). Eligible international applicants from countries/ regions outside the Chinese mainland, Macau and Hong Kong will be automatically considered for the scholarship based on their all-round record and interview performance. The scholarship recipients will receive special/additional notice if the admission offer is provided with IPS.
  2. The Merit-based Scholarship, with five quotas available, awards HK$100,000 to each recipient. Selection is based on outstanding academic background and public examination results. Applicants who submit completed applications by the first-round admission deadline will be automatically considered. 
  3. The Diversity Contribution Scholarship awards HK$100,000 to each recipient, with five scholarships available for incoming students who contribute to enhancing the diversity of the programme. Applicants are evaluated based on a broad range of criteria, including international exposure, cultural experiences, overseas education, work experience, special achievements, and talents.
