1a. Programmes pitched at Level 4 of the Qualifications Framework (QF) include, but not limited to, associate degree, higher diploma, advanced diploma and professional diploma programmes. The Sub-degree Providing Units (SDPUs) offering QF Level 4 programmes are Academy of Film of the School of Communication, College of International Education, School of Continuing Education and School of Chinese Medicine.
1b. While all QF Level 4 programmes are required to follow the QA protocol currently applied to HKBU degrees/associate degrees/higher diplomas, QF Levels 1 to 3 programmes are subject to a devolved SDPU QA mechanism and all revisions would need to undergo the internal QA processes within their SDPUs. Each SDPU would be required to submit an annual report to the QA Sub-Committee on SD Programmes
(QASC) on their approval of new programmes and major revisions to existing programmes. For more details, please refer to the QA protocol for sub-degrees (QF Levels 1 to 4)
2. Applied to all QF Level 4 programmes including associate degrees, higher diplomas and professional diplomas (with 15 units or less, offered under the approved General Framework), etc. For the latter, only the termination of the entire approved General Framework would require the approval of Senate (via QAC and QASC). The introduction/termination of individual programmes within the approved General Framework are subject to a devolved QA mechanism with the respective SDPUs.
