Since its inception in 1956, HKBU has been a pathfinder in business education in Hong Kong and Asia. The School of Business has progressively gained in stature over the years. In April 2010, the School joined the top 5% of business schools worldwide to receive full accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), the largest and the longest standing specialized accrediting agency for business and accounting programmes. The programmes that we offer at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels are intellectually rigorous and have contemporary and professional relevance. To nurture students as all-round business leaders, we commit resources to extensive extra-curricular activities, including amongst others, overseas exchange, business internship, service learning and language enhancement. Our HK-China MBA programme is the first MBA in Hong Kong to have a China business emphasis which has facilitated its pioneering success in China MBA programme to train mainland executives for a decade. Furthermore, our MSc in Strategic Human Resources Management and MSc in Corporate Governance and Directorship remain at the forefront, not only in Hong Kong but throughout the region. Rigorous research-based postgraduate programmes lead to MPhil and PhD degrees, and DBA has been uniquely designed as a small-cohort professional doctorate. The School has a strong culture of excellence in both research and teaching, pursuing a research direction to encourage research activities that are in support of teaching. It is evidenced in our recent adoption of Corporate Sustainability as a strategic theme of the School that has further strengthened the elements of business ethics, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility in our education and research agenda. The World Business Ethics Forum (supported by the Journal of Business Ethics and Asian Journal of Business Ethics) is an international biennial conference initiated by the School, and also serves as a platform to explore new approaches and new ideas in this theme area of Corporate Sustainability. Research and consultancy are integral to School's activities. Our faculty members engage actively in academic as well as applied research with a corporate advisory or policy impact. The School has gained recognition in the international research scene, showing our significant impact on the advancement of new business knowledge in the community. In the area of corporate links, our faculty members have been collaborating with local and mainland private and public sectors by providing policy research, consultancy service, and advisory and committee service. | |||
