Department of English Language and Literature

The Department of English Language and Literature is a multi-disciplinary department, which differs significantly in its programme offerings and staff composition from many other similar departments in the territory. It serves as the "home" for staff teaching in the BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature, BA (Hons) in Humanities, and BA (Hons) in Translation. Some colleagues are also involved in the teaching of the part-time taught MA Programme in Language Studies. The Department has the following as its major research strengths:

a) Literature written in English;
b) Language studies and linguistics;
c) Translation;
d) Comparative literature (including literature and other disciplines);
e) Cultural studies;
f) Gender studies; and
g) Creative writing.
