Master of Arts in Communication

The MA in Communication is a coursework-based programme designed for part-time and full-time students. The length for completion of the programme is 24 months for part-time students or 12 months for full-time students. The programme approaches communication at individual, organizational and societal levels with a focus on communication and new media in the larger China region and beyond. Attention is also paid to the impact of changing technologies.

 
The MA in Communication aims to:
1. train Communication leaders and cultivate the ability to evaluate systematically communication and media problems;
2. develop conceptual and analytical skills in applying advanced communication knowledge in students¡¦ current or future careers; and
3. educate individuals in new substantive areas in the field of communication.
 

For graduation, students must complete 27 units.

A terminal postgraduate diploma may be awarded to those who have completed all the programme work and attained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or above with all courses scoring grade C- or above (excluding project), but have not completed a satisfactory project chosen within the normal study period for reasons deemed acceptable by the Programme Management Committee.

 
Requirements
 

For award of the MA degree, all students are required to complete a total of 27 units. The programme consists of 9 units of Core Courses and 18 units of Elective Courses, at least 12 units of which must be from this programme.
