Minor Programme in Theatre Studies
 

Students seeking to pursue the study of a minor programme would need to fulfil 15 units of courses specified by the offering department/programme, and note that no registration priority will be given to enrolment in minor courses. Upon completion of the 15 units required for the minor programmes, students should apply to the Academic Registry for approval.

  ENG 3730 Single Author Forum: Drama 3 units
  ENG 3940 Shakespeare & His Contemporaries 3 units
  HUM 2230 Drama as Human Experience 3 units
  HUM 2240 Performing as Human Experience 3 units
  LANG 3250** Modern & Contemporary Theatre: Appreciation & Playwriting 3 units
  TRA 1310# Intercultural Theatre & Cultural Translation 3 units

* CHI 3990 Special Topics in Chinese Arts and Chinese Literature can only count for the Minor in Theatre Studies if a playwright or dramatic topic is covered.
** LANG 2250 Modern Chinese Drama: Appreciation and Playwriting, which was changed to LANG 3250 Modern and Contemporary Theatre: Appreciation and Playwriting with effect from Semester 2, 2010/11, is recognized as the elective course for students to fulfil the requirement of Minor in Theatre Studies.
# For 2010/11 and 2011/12, TRA 1310 Intercultural Theatre and Cultural Translation, which is a pilot-run GE course in Semester 2, 2010/11, is also recognized as the elective course of Minor in Theatre Studies.
 
 
Progression

Students taking Theatre Studies as Minor are strongly advised to take HUM 2360 Introduction to the Art of Theatre as the foundation course first before they progress to the elective component (3 other courses from the list). The other required course HUM 3160 Artistic Creativity and Aesthetics Awareness should be taken in their second or final year of study.

Consultation on course combination and study schedule will be made available to students who are interested in study Theatre Studies as Minor.
