Minor Programme in Creative Writing

Students seeking to pursue the study of a minor programme would need to fulfil 15 units of courses specified by the offering department/programme, and note that no registration priority will be given to enrolment in minor courses. Upon completion of the 15 units required for the minor programmes, students should apply to the Academic Registry for approval.

Requirements

	LANG	2240	Creative Writing through Masterpieces	3 units
	LANG	2280	Refining Chinese Writing Skills	3 units

*	If both LANG 1460 Creative Writing in Chinese and LANG 2290 English through Creative Writing are taken by students with bilingual proficiency, one of which will be counted as a required course while the other an elective.
**	If students with grade "B or above" in the AS level subject Chinese Language and Culture take LANG 1460 Creative Writing in Chinese to replace LANG 1480 University Chinese, they could take any five courses from the elective courses to fulfil the minor requirement.
#	LANG 2130 Creative Writing: Modern Chinese Poetry, which was changed to LANG 3130 Creative Writing: Modern Chinese Poetry with effect from Semester 2, 2010/11, is recognized as a Level 3 course for students to fulfil the level requirement of Minor in Creative Writing.
##	LANG 2250 Modern Chinese Drama: Appreciation and Playwriting, which was changed to LANG 3250 Modern and Contemporary Theatre: Appreciation and Playwriting with effect from Semester 2, 2010/11, is recognized as a Level 3 course for students to fulfil the level requirement of Minor in Creative Writing.

Progression

Students taking Creative Writing as a minor are required to take LANG 1460 Creative Writing in Chinese or LANG 2290 English through Creative Writing as the foundation course first before they progress to the elective component (four other courses from the list).

Consultation on course combination and study schedule will be made available to students who are interested in taking Creative Writing as a minor.
