Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Chinese Language and Literature

The objectives of the BA (Hons) in Chinese Language and Literature programme are:

a) To provide students with an all-round syllabus in Chinese studies, with a balanced emphasis on language, literature and intellectual thought; and
b) To cultivate students¡¦ ability in literary creation, teaching and other related cultural work.

This emphasis is important as many graduates of the programme enter the profession of teaching, while others join cultural fields such as mass media and translation. For those who pursue a higher degree in graduate study or those who engage professionally or amateurishly in literary creation, the above foundation is equally important.

The structure of the curriculum is as follows:

I) Major Courses 54 units
II) Honours Project 6 units
III) General Education 38 units
IV) Free Electives# 30 units
    ¢w¢w¢w¢w¢w¢w¢w
  128 units

# Students may take additional GE courses in any categories to fulfill the “Free Electives” requirement but only a maximum of 6 units will be counted towards the fulfillment of the “Free Electives” requirement.
