Physical Education Courses |
All students are required to take two non-credit bearing Physical Education courses (3-year) or two 1-unit Physical Education courses (4-year) as part of their graduation requirements. Over 50 sections are offered every semester for students to select and enrol. |

Intercollegiate and Intramural Sports Programmes |
Students represent the University to participate in sports competitions organized by the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China as well as in overseas competitions such as the World University Games. They are also encouraged to participate in other local sports competitions in the territory, e.g. the Quadrangle Athletic and Aquatic Meets and the Rowing Championship. Intramural competitions in athletics, swimming, basketball, soccer, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis are also organized annually. |
The management of the Wai Hang Sports Centre, the Dr Stephen Hui Multi-purpose Games Hall and the Joint Sports Centre involves supervision of over 40 staff and a year-round commitment. Students have access to a variety of sports facilities ranging from athletic track, swimming pool, basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court, badminton court, squash court, activities room, fitness room, multi-purpose games hall, and soccer pitch. |

Dr Stephen Hui Research Centre for Physical Recreation and Wellness |
Established on 27 December 1996, the Research Centre provides valuable facilities for colleagues and students to conduct researches in the areas of sports science and sports medicine. It also continues to attract outside funding to conduct research and consultation projects. |

Pre-Associate Degree and Associate Degree Programmes |
The Department, in partnership with the College of International Education, Hong Kong Baptist University, offers concentrations studies in sport and recreation at both the pre-associate degree level and the associate degree level. Both programmes had their first batch of graduates in 2004. |
An undergraduate degree programme in physical education and recreation management has been offered since 1992 and over 600 students have graduated from the programme. Graduates are working in the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, sport and recreation departments in non-government agencies such as YMCA, recreation camps, fitness clubs and schools as physical education teachers. A new self-financed undergraduate programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Social Sciences in Sport and Recreation Leadership has commenced in September 2005. The first batch of students graduated in 2007. |
The graduate programmes in sport sciences have been admitting MPhil and PhD students. The first batch of graduates was in 1998. A self-financed Master of Social Sciences in Sport and Leisure Management was inaugurated in 2001. The ninth cohort of students will commence their studies in September 2010. |
