Master of Arts in Communication

The MA in Communication is a coursework programme designed for part-time and full-time students. The length for completion of the programme is 24 months for part-time students or 12 months for full-time students. The programme approaches communication at individual, organizational and societal levels with a focus on communication in the larger China region and beyond. Attention is also paid to the new media communication and its social impact.

 
The MA in Communication aims to:
   
1. Provide solid training in systematic evaluation of communication problems;
2. Develop conceptual and analytical skills in applying advanced communication knowledge to real world practices; and
3. Bring individuals to the cutting edge of communication research and technology.
 

For graduation, students must complete 27 units.

A terminal postgraduate diploma may be awarded to those who have completed all the programme work and attained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or above with all courses scoring grade C- or above (excluding project), but have not completed a satisfactory project within the normal study period for reasons deemed acceptable by the Programme Management Committee.

 
Requirements
 
For award of the MA degree, all students are required to complete a total of 27 units. The programme consists of 9 units of Core Courses and 18 units of Elective Courses, at least 12 units of which must be from this programme.
