Master of Arts in Communication

The MA in Communication is a coursework programme designed for part-time and full-time students. The length for completion of the programme is 24 months for part-time students or 12 months for full-time students. The programme approaches communication with special attention to integrated communication management and media studies in Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan. Attention is also paid to the new media communication and its social impact.

The MA in Communication aims to:

1.	Provide solid training in systematic evaluation of communication problems;
2.	Develop conceptual and analytical skills in applying advanced communication knowledge to real world practices; and
3.	Bring individuals to the cutting edge of communication research and technology.

The programme approaches communication at the individual, organizational and societal levels with a focus on communication in Hong Kong, mainland China, and Taiwan.

For graduation, students must complete 27 units.

A terminal postgraduate diploma may be awarded to those who have completed all the programme work and attained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or above with all courses scoring grade C- or above (excluding project), but have not completed a satisfactory project within the normal study period for reasons deemed acceptable by the Programme Management Committee.

Requirements

For award of the MA degree, all students are required to complete a total of 27 units. The programme consists of 9 units of Core Courses and 18 units of Elective Courses, at least 12 units of which must be from students' own chosen concentration.
