The aim of the programme is to cultivate and enhance students’ competence in applying Chinese medicine theories and methods into clinical practice as well as in research and development of Chinese medicine. Through taking the programme, students’ ability to comprehend and master the theoretical knowledge of Chinese medicine will be strengthened. Through a co-ordinated approach of teaching the knowledge of various Chinese medicine specialties and the exposure to the latest advancement of research in Chinese medicine, the abilities and standards of the students will be further enhanced for the application of Chinese medicine theories in clinical practice and in research and development of Chinese medicine.

In addition to a number of common courses, students are required to choose a specialized area of studies, known as the concentration courses. They have to choose one out of the three concentrations: (1) Studies and Applications of Internal Chinese Medicine (ICM), (2) Studies and Applications of Acupuncture (ACU), and (3) Studies and Applications of Orthopaedics, Traumatology and Tui Na (OT). Upon completion of the programme, students of ICM, ACU and OT will have mastered the abilities in diagnosis and treatment, and are expected to apply their knowledge and techniques skilfully in clinical practice. The programme aims to train a group of quality personnel in medical and healthcare services, as well as in research and technological development of Chinese medicine.
