Minor Programmes in French, German, Japanese and Spanish Languages

Students seeking to pursue the study of a Minor programme need to complete 15 units of courses specified by the offering department/programme. No registration priority will be given to enrolment on Minor courses. Upon completion of the required 15 units, students should apply to the Academic Registry for approval.

Requirements for French Language Programme

Required Courses				9 units
	FREN	1005	French I	3 units
	FREN	1006	French II	3 units
	FREN	2005	French III	3 units

Elective Courses				6 units
	Two of the following courses:
	FREN	2006	French IV	3 units
	FREN	3005	French V	3 units
	FREN	3006	Contemporary French Society through Its National Cinema	3 units

				15 units

To be awarded a Minor, three Required Courses and two Elective Courses must be successfully completed, including at least one Level III course. Students in the French Stream of the BSocSc (Hons) in European Studies programme are not allowed to claim the Minor in the French language.


Requirements for German Language Programme

Required Courses				9 units
	GERM	1005	German I	3 units
	GERM	1006	German II	3 units
	GERM	2005	German III	3 units

Elective Courses				6 units
	Two of the following courses:
	GERM	2006	German IV	3 units
	GERM	3005	Business German	3 units
	GERM	3006	Creative Writing in German	3 units
	GERM	3007	German Language, Culture & Society	3 units

				15 units

To be awarded a Minor, three Required Courses and two Elective Courses must be successfully completed, including at least one Level III course. Students in the German Stream of the BSocSc (Hons) in European Studies programme are not allowed to claim the Minor in the German language.

	JPSE	3006	Business Japanese	3 units

To be awarded a Minor, five Required Courses must be successfully completed, including at least one Level III course.

Remarks: Students should note that the above courses in the four Minor programmes may not be offered every semester.
