Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Language and Literature

 
The English Language and Literature Programme seeks to provide:
 
a) A rigorous and rewarding educational experience for its students, including strengthening their English language proficiency and their ability to think and work critically, independently, and creatively;
b) A foundation of knowledge in literature and language that enables students to learn a variety of new approaches and methodologies in the areas of Literary and Comparative Studies and Language and Communication Studies;
c) Exposure to the canon and traditions of English literature and language as an enduring legacy for the culture and community of Hong Kong.
 
The structure of the curriculum is as follows:

III) General Education 38 units
IV) Free Electives# 30 units

# Students may take additional GE courses in any category to fulfil the ¡§Free Electives¡¨ requirement. A maximum of 6 units will be counted towards the fulfilment of the ¡§Free Electives¡¨ requirement.

If students would like to graduate under a specific concentration, they must complete at least six concentration courses, plus at least two courses outside the student¡¦s chosen concentration.
