Minor Programme in History (3-year)
 

Students seeking to pursue the study of a minor programme would need to fulfil 15 units of courses specified by the offering department/programme, and note that no registration priority will be given to enrolment in minor courses. Upon completion of the 15 units required for the minor programmes, students should apply to the Academic Registry for approval.

  Either      
  One of the following courses:
  HIST 1121-2 History of Chinese Culture & Society 6 units
  HIST 1131-2 History of Western Civilization 6 units
  Or      
  Two of the following courses:  
  HIST 1620 Perspectives on Chinese History 3 units
  HIST 2170 Introduction to Chinese Historiography 3 units
  HIST 2210 Introduction to Modern Chinese History 3 units
         
Elective Courses 9 units
  Three of the following courses:  
  HIST 2150 Modern Asia (1800-1945) 3 units
  HIST 2160 Twentieth Century Hong Kong History 3 units
  HIST 2220 Foreign Relations of Modern China 3 units
  HIST 2650 Great Trends in Modern European History 3 units
  HIST 2660 History of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) 3 units
  HIST 2670 History of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1840) 3 units
  HIST 3610 History of Chinese Women to 1911 3 units
  HIST 3630 Chinese Women & Politics in Twentieth Century China 3 units
  HIST 3640 Social & Economic Development of Modern China 3 units
  HIST 3650 Intellectual Trends in Modern China 3 units
  HIST 3680 China & Asia in the Twentieth Century 3 units
  HIST 3820 Contemporary China 3 units
  HIST 3870 Overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia 3 units
  HIST 3880 Japan in the Twentieth Century 3 units

Students are required to take at least two Level III Elective Courses.
 
For exceptional cases, students may apply to the Department Head for permission to choose other courses offered by the Department. However, such requests must be fully justified on academic grounds.
