This Major offers a unique integration of two Concentrations, Film and Media Arts, to equip students with the essential knowledge to establish careers in the creative industries including audio-visual production, interactive games, digital animation and arts-related administration. The Film Concentration embraces the gems of the well-received Cinema and Television programme while the Media Arts Concentration extends the professional training into the arena of online, interactive and digital media. The Film Concentration provides a broad-based knowledge of trainings in film, video and television, including relevant areas of theory, history and practice. Likewise, the Media Arts Concentration provides theoretical trainings in visual and creativity with the emphasis of proficiency in leveraging the digital media for various forms of creative expressions such as digital animation, interactive games, visual design and art installation. Practical Production exercises are a feature of the Major, but students are also expected to learn to think analytically, critically and creatively. Internship production programmes enable students to acquire valuable workplace experience.
