Chinese Businesses Case Centre
The Chinese Businesses Case Centre, inaugurated in December 2008, aims to focus on business case development and research activities on areas of business strategies, management issues, business functional issues, new business approaches, business venturing and entrepreneurial practice in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and other locations with Chinese businesses, for the development of business theories and pedagogy, and advancement of business practices and knowledge in the region.
 
Institute for Enterprise Development
The Institute for Enterprise Development (IED) established since 1988, serves to link the School of Business with the community. It provides administrative support to faculty members in their consulting and training work for the private and public sector in Hong Kong. For over 20 years, it has also offered training to officials from mainland Chinese government offices and enterprises. IED has also taken on special projects including policy research, a project promoting employee well-being in enterprises, a project aiming to enhance the management of Christian churches and organizations (on-going). IED also supports the School in organizing conferences, symposiums, seminars and special events.
 
Objectives
1. To establish closer links between the private and public sectors and the School of Business through executive training and consultancy activities.
2. To encourage and promote the development of research projects which are academically rigorous and of high practical value to the business and public community.
3. To facilitate and co-ordinate joint research programmes and international conferences organized by Hong Kong Baptist University, other higher education and public institutions locally and overseas.
 
Enhancement of Leadership and Management of Christian Churches and Organizations in Hong Kong
Building on the Christian heritage of HKBU, IED initiated a special project on “Enhancement of Leadership and Management of Christian Churches and Organizations in Hong Kong”. The project aims to enhance the effective leadership and management of Christian churches and organizations through research, forums and seminars, training courses, etc.
 
Executive Development Training Programmes
To serve the needs of enterprises, professional organizations, government units and the business community in general, IED has designed and organized hundreds of executive training and development programmes since 1988. The programmes are developed with the assistance of the School’s faculty members, thereby ensuring the quality of content and presentation.
 
Executive Development Seminar Series
IED has organized free seminars under the Executive Development Seminar Series on topics related to corporate governance, China market development, logistics management and development, banking and finance, marketing, human resources management and business strategy. Speakers include eminent scholars and business leaders from various industries.
 
Public Forums and Seminars
Public forums and seminars are important activities of IED that provide opportunities for exchange and sharing of ideas and experiences. These forums and seminars are conducted by scholars from local and overseas institutions, business leaders, as well as faculty members of the School.
 
Consultancy Services
IED undertakes in-house consultancy projects on contract basis for various public and private organizations in Hong Kong.
 
Conference
IED organizes local as well as international conferences with participants from around the world.
