Global and China Business Concentration

Doing business with China and managing China enterprises require understanding of the China business environment as well as the global business environment. In many instances this calls for the comprehension, integration and creative application of knowledge not only about the China market but also about the Global market. Traditional training, by itself, is inadequate in preparing business leaders for making efficient and effective decisions.

The Global and China Business Concentration equips students to be socially responsible business leaders. The Concentration integrates a broad spectrum of courses that emphasise modern management concepts and practices, and provides systematic and unique exposure to and examination of the socio-cultural, institutional, operational and behavioural aspects of Global and China business.

Graduates from this Concentration have a clear understanding of the Global and China business environments. In addition, they are equipped with a working knowledge of conducting Global and China business, better communication skills with organisations, and the ability to make business and management decisions in the complex Global and China business environment.

The objectives of the Global and China Business Concentration are:

(1) To enable students to build a solid foundation in understanding how cultural, economic, legal and political environments affect business practices in Global and China markets;
(2) To educate students with specialized knowledge that enable them to critically assess and systematically resolve business problems in Global and China markets;
(3) To cultivate a global vision and equip students with skills to help Chinese firms to develop overseas markets and assist multinational corporations to exploit the Chinese markets;
(4) To provide necessary training in writing and presentation skills that enables students to communicate with business partners, consumers, clients, and employers effectively; and
(5) To nurture a sense of ethics and social responsibility that prepares students to be visionary.
