Direct (Non-JUPAS) Applicants
Senior Year Admissions
Senior Year Admissions generally refer to admission to Year 3 of 4-year curriculum programmes. To provide more study pathways for sub-degree (Associate Degree or Higher Diploma) final year students or graduates, the University accepts applications from eligible candidates for admission to Year 3.
Quota and Programmes for Senior Year Admissions
For 2017 entry, the quota for Senior Year Admissions is to be advised. Details of available quotas of the Faculty/ School/ AVA will be announced soon.
Please click List of Programmes for programmes with Senior Year Admissions channel.
Eligibility of Admission
Local Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma final year students and graduates of recognised institutions or people with other relevant qualifications are welcome to apply for admission to Year 3.
The University adopts a holistic approach in selecting applicants for interview/ test. Individual applicants will be considered by the University regarding their academic qualifications and non-academic achievements on a case-by-case basis. The University does not have specific cGPA or average score requirement. However, as the competition for admission is keen, senior year entrants admitted in the past, in general, attained a normalized cGPA of 3.00 or above (normalized to a maximum cGPA of 4.00), or an equivalent average score. Since admission is based on individual merits, the actual admittees’ profile may vary depending on the number of applicants each year and the selection criteria set by individual programmes.
The number of transferred units for applicants who are admitted to senior year would generally fall in the range of 51-64 units (or up to 50% of the total number of units in the Programme). Below is the recommended distribution of units transferred for applicants admitted to Year 3 of study:
Recommended number of units transferred
≥ 15 units
27 - 38 units for AD graduates
18 units for HD graduates
* For details of transfer of GE units, you are advised to visit the website of General Education Office:
51-64 units (or up to 50% of the total number of units in the Programme)
Please note that the number of transferred units is subject to the final decision of study programmes. For specific programme structure and unit requirement, please check the relevant programme websites in the List of Programmes
Summer Programme for Senior Year Entrants
To alleviate senior year entrants' study load during normal semesters and to facilitate their participation in the exchange programme/ internship training, senior year entrants are invited to enrol in the Summer Programme which will be held around July 2017. For details, please visit the website at http://www.hkbu.edu.hk/ar/summer
Number and Normalized Mean cGPAs of Senior Year Entrants
As programmes adopt holistic approach and select students not merely on the academic qualifications, the actual results of the senior year entrants to each programme may vary from year to year (depending on the overall results achieved by applicants in a particular year, the number of applicants applying to the programme, changes in selection criteria, etc.). Information on this web page is for reference only, and should not be used to predict the chance of admission to any programme in subsequent years.
The normalized mean cGPAs are based on the programmes' average cGPAs of the senior year entrants to each of the programmes offered by HKBU in the respective years. The cGPAs of the senior year entrants are normalized with a cap at 4.00.
