Direct (Non-JUPAS) Admission Scheme Introduction
Direct (Non-JUPAS) Admission Scheme is for local and non-local applicants who are applying for admission on the basis of qualifications other than Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)
or National Joint College Entrance Examination
(JEE) results of the current year. There is NO fixed quota for direct (Non-JUPAS) applicants, and the University adopts a holistic approach in selecting applicants for interview/ test on a case-by-case basis.
Direct (Non-JUPAS) Admission Scheme
Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma/ Professional Diploma/ Diploma final year students or graduates and Degree holders may apply for Year 1 or Year 3 entry, depending on the depth and relevancy of the subjects and the programme they are enrolled.
Transfer students who have completed at least one year of study of a 3-year degree programme or two years of study of a 4-year degree programme may apply for Year 1 or Year 3 entry. Transfer students studying the first year of a 4-year degree programme are eligible to apply for Year 1 entry only.
Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma/ Professional Diploma/ Diploma non-final year students are eligible to apply for Year 1 entry only.
Individual applicants will be considered by the University regarding their academic qualifications and non-academic achievements on a case-by-case basis. A small number of applicants may be considered for admission to Year 2 of 4-year curriculum programmes depending on vacancies arising from attrition of individual programmes.
Hong Kong permanent citizens are regarded as local applicants, even if they are currently residing or studying overseas. For example, Hong Kong citizens who are studying Grade 12 and taking GCE examinations in Britain are regarded as local applicants. Alternatively, Hong Kong citizens who are studying in international schools in Hong Kong are also regarded as local applicants.
Non-local applicants are defined as persons entering Hong Kong for the purpose of education with a student visa/ entry permit issued by the Director of Immigration.
Citizens of Mainland China
Citizens of Mainland China entering Hong Kong for the purpose of education with a student visa/ entry permit issued by the Director of Immigration should follow either one of the routes for admission as stated below:
Applicants who DO NOT sit for the 2015 National Joint College Entrance Examination (JEE) or who want to apply on the strength of other qualifications (apart from JEE/ HKDSE) should apply through the Direct (Non-JUPAS) Admission Scheme;
Applicants sitting for the 2015 JEE should apply for admission via the University's Admission Scheme for Mainland Students. Relevant details can be found at Mainland Admission Scheme website.
For the 2015 entry, the application period is from Nov 3, 2014 (Mon) to Jan 5, 2015 (Mon). There is only one intake each year, i.e. Fall Intake, and late applications will NOT be processed. Each applicant is allowed to submit ONE application with a maximum of two programme choices.
Application and Admission
1. Application Submission
The University accepts online applications only and applications can be made through the University’s website. Before submitting an application, applicants should read the prospectus
carefully to check whether they satisfy the university and programme admission requirements. Remember to complete and submit the application before the application deadline. For more details and application procedures, please check "How to Apply
2. Application Acknowledgement
Applicants will receive an email acknowledgement upon application submission. The University will inform applicants of their application status including interview arrangements and admission offer by email/ phone/ SMS and through the Applicant Enquiry System.
3. Application Screening
Each year the University receives Direct (Non-JUPAS) applications with diversified qualifications and status, which may include GCE, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, sub-degree, bachelor degree, or other acceptable qualifications. To give due consideration to each application, assessment of Direct (Non-JUPAS) application is made on a case-by-case basis.
4. Interview Selection
When deemed appropriate, the University will invite eligible and suitable applicants to attend an interview/ selection test. Selected applicants will receive interview/ test notifications by email/ phone/ SMS. Applicants can also view their application status through the Applicant Enquiry System
5. Application Result
Admission is based on individual merits. In general, programmes will take into account applicants' interview/ test performance, academic achievements and non-academic performance during the assessment process. Successful applicants who are offered a place of admission will be informed by post/ email/ phone. Applicants can also view their application status through the Applicant Enquiry System
To accept the admission offer, applicants must pay a NON-REFUNDABLE
admission confirmation fee of HK$10,565 (subject to change).

Applicants who do not receive notification by early September can assume their applications have been unsuccessful. Applicants can view their application status through the Applicant Enquiry System
and no written notification will be sent to unsuccessful applicants.
6. Enrolment and Orientation
Enrolment for new students is normally scheduled in late July or early August. Other new student activities, such as Orientation, U-life workshops, course pre-registration and the English Bridging Course are scheduled in August.
