School Principal's Nominations (SPN)
The main objective of the School Principal’s Nominations is to give due recognition to students who have contributed to social services or made outstanding achievements in non-academic areas such as sports, music, social services, other cultural activities, or who have demonstrated leadership abilities. It is hoped that such nominations will also encourage schools to provide opportunities for their students to participate in different areas of non-academic activities, and students to make good use of these opportunities. The School Principal’s Nominations can also provide universities, schools, and students with experience which will be useful in the possible development of a more flexible admissions system in Hong Kong which does not over-rely on public examination results. More details on School Principal's Nominations can be found at the JUPAS website.
Interviews for School Principal's Nominations will be held in Mid-June. Nominees will be invited to interviews provided that:
they have selected HKBU programme(s) in their JUPAS Band A choices;
they currently fulfill or are due to fulfill the admissions requirements for the University and Band A Programme(s).
Applicants who are selected for interview will receive an SMS message (if you opt to receive SMS message in your JUPAS application) and an email notification containing interview details.
Assessment of School Principal's Nominations
Based on the applicants' interview performance and information stated in their JUPAS applications, interviewed applicants will be informed of the following interview results prior to the announcement of HKDSE results:
Any Conditional Offer, subject to fulfillment of the offer conditions stated in the interview result notification letter;
Any bonus scores that will improve the chance of admission;
That all applications are considered on equal grounds.
NB: Any favourable considerations will only be made if the particular HKBU Programme(s) are placed in the applicant's Band A choices after final reprioritization of choices are made in July.
Applicants with a Disability
Applicants with a disability who wish to apply for admission via JUPAS to the participating-institutions may submit information to JUPAS Office in relation to their disability for consideration by the institutions. Such arrangement is intended to enable applicants with a disability to find out as early as possible the special assistance and facilities available to them on their admission and to help us provide help and advice to them at an early stage. In the above context, the term “disability” refers to the following types of disabilities:
attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder;
specific learning difficulties;
visceral disability / chronic illness; and
Details of your disability and supporting documents together with your application should be submitted to JUPAS Office by December 1, 2016. Please visit the JUPAS website for more details.
Other Experiences and Achievements in Competitions / Activities (OEA)
Under the New Academic Reform, Other Experiences and Achievements in Competitions / Activities (OEA) is a key feature for fostering a 'whole-person development', and is one of the factors in addition to achievements at HKDSE which the institutions will consider. The University, founded in 1956, has established its place in Hong Kong's tertiary education sector. With its emphasis on academic excellence, whole-person education and all-round development with a Christian ethos, JUPAS applicants who have made outstanding achievements in the extra-curricular activities will be given due recognition.
Submission of OEA information
To facilitate the University in considering applicants' performances in activities in addition to their academic results, applicants are advised to submit their OEA information, which is part of the JUPAS application form. Applicants should make reference to their own Student Learning Profile (SLP) when completing the information. Such information will serve as important additional reference for admission selection and can also be used as a framework for discussions during selection interviews. Each award will be specifically judged according to its individual merit and will be categorised at the University's discretion as deemed appropriate.
The deadline for submission of OEA information is on January 23, 2017. For details, please refer to the JUPAS website.
